Tales

Throughout the clothing listings, you have probably noticed many unfamiliar words and names of places and people. Here you will find some information on them, as well as other bits and pieces of current writings from Dragon's Den.

The Stories Behind the Clothes

Sometimes the clothes we make have been inspired by some storyline or character we've been working on - and sometimes the clothes inspire such a story or character.  Here we'll share those with you!

Leaving Home

It wouldn’t be long now, I could see the ridge I used to climb as a girl. As a girl. Well, that was ages ago.

My mind stirred with memories as I stared towards that high ridge. The good times, the bad. What had happened when I had chosen to leave a few months after my brothers.

Ma was furious, “A girls place was at the home. Not with a blade in her hand fighting a foolish war that would never have started if it were not for fool men!”

Papa stood at the porch, sad eyes searching mine as he laid a hand on my shoulder.

“Each life is for the soul to choose how it must be lived.”

“Tell her she cannot leave, Liam! Don’t let my daughter go!” Ma cried through her sobs and tears, reaching for me.

Pa handed me my pack, and put a staying hand to Ma’s arm. He turned her away from me, and guided her back inside where he closed the door, leaving me alone on the porch.

I had steeled myself, and took the first step off the porch, and the next towards the trail away from home, and then the next, until it became easier and I walked with will and purpose away from home to a new and uncertain way of life that I felt pulled me away from all that was love and safety. I felt the call of the Way of the Warrior, and I could no longer deny that call.

Definitions

Dar’Rhamdi: Travelers of the night. Spinners of Dark magic in its purest form. They who walk not in the light, nor in the deep shadows of darkness, but on the edge of day and night.
Dar’Rhamdi wizards are rare, and those of the old and purest blood even more so. Yet they carry a high standard of themselves as well of those that serve them. They would not call themselves royalty or think of themselves as noble. Yet the Dar’Rhamdi wizard is both noble and regal with danger lining the edges.

Myrzehra: Originally royal guards and questioners, this ancient line of specialized wizards were once highly respected and feared. These wizards, either male or female, often began their training as young as eight years old.

In the beginning they were taught to take immense amounts of pain in order to protect whomever they were sworn to. A fully trained Myrzehra could take serious wounds and still be capable of standing between their sworn and the enemy. Often trainees did not make it through this phase of the training.

They were also trained to question their sworn’s enemies if captured alive. The Myrzehra were skillfully taught to give immense pain to others, at the same time not allowing the victim to die prematurely. The Myrzehra were trained to give this pain solely through wizarding talents and not mechanical devices. A highly trained Myrzehra could twist enemy’s guts into knots by just appearing to look at them.

A Myrzehra was also trained in the arts of armed combat without using their talents. Many were often masters of the sword, bow, lance, and staff.

They were fierce and confident warriors of the highest order, respected and honored. Until three thousand years ago when the deceit of one Myrzehra changed it all…………

Trallidar: Country and great city by the Sea of Gohn. Rulers of trade and commerce, the people live comfortably and host many Houses of Nobility. Keepers of the peace of the known world, the Lords and Knights of Trallidar are oft seen prancing their strong war horses through the country in grand appearances.
